{"id":1236,"date":"2020-02-03T07:00:24","date_gmt":"2020-02-03T07:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/4hhousealumni.com\/blog\/?p=1236"},"modified":"2020-01-31T23:26:47","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T23:26:47","slug":"meet-your-alum-board-tammy-oertel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/4hhousealumni.com\/blog\/2020\/meet-your-alum-board-tammy-oertel\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet Your Alum Board &#8211; Tammy Oertel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/4hhousealumni.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=1237\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1237\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1237\" src=\"https:\/\/4hhousealumni.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Tammy-266x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4hhousealumni.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Tammy-266x300.png 266w, https:\/\/4hhousealumni.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Tammy-89x100.png 89w, https:\/\/4hhousealumni.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Tammy.png 316w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 266px) 100vw, 266px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hello!\u00a0 I\u2019m Tammy (Twenhafel) Oertel, 1994 U of I graduate with a BS in Speech and Hearing Science and member of the 4-H House pledge class of \u201995.\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s an honor and a privilege to serve on the Alum Board.\u00a0 I appreciate everything that 4-H House afforded me during my time on campus, and now that my children are themselves entering the college years, giving back to my home-away-from-home in this capacity is an exciting and welcomed prospect.<\/p>\n<p>I grew up in southern Illinois (shout out to the CC, aka Clinton County) on a dairy and grain farm.\u00a0 I attended Kaskaskia Jr. College for one year, then transferred as a sophomore.\u00a0 Though my career path was not in agriculture, and I loved the broad experiences and diversity I experienced at U of I, my heart was never far from my roots. \u00a0This made 4-H House the perfect place for me to live and grow.\u00a0 It makes me smile when I hear someone call me T-Squared, because that nickname transports me right back to life at 805 W.
