Underwriting 85th Reunion

Dear House Sisters,

Plans for this summer’s 4-H House 85th Anniversary reunion are well underway! We hope you’ve blocked the weekend of July 12-13 on your calendar and will be in Champaign-Urbana to celebrate with alumnae and current House sisters.

As you know, during the 75th Anniversary in 2009, 4-House alumnae unanimously agreed that reunions every 25 years were 20 years overdue! What a joy it was to come together again in 2014 and now to look forward to July, 2019. Obviously, we can’t allow the celebrations to create a financial burden for our 4-H House Alumnae Association. And thanks to some very generous House sisters, we are close to accomplishing this goal!

Cindy Eustice, Kay Bonneur and members of the Class of ’56 have elected to celebrate their milestone birthday this year at the 85th Anniversary party – 85 at the 805 85th! These women were among the leaders of our sisterhood who managed to build and pay for our House at 805 Ohio. They are underwriting the cost of the Union banquet rooms for the Saturday luncheon!

But wait! There’s more!

The Pledge Class of 1968 has generously agreed to sponsor the Friday night picnic at Lake of the Woods! The women of ’68 are doing this as a tribute to those alumnae in the catering group who worked tirelessly to raise money to build, and then pay off the mortgage on, 805 Ohio.

The Class of 1970 is underwriting the audio and visual portions of the Saturday luncheon, ensuring that we have a final video to share with alumnae who are unable to attend.

The Class of 2017 will be underwriting the cost of the pre-luncheon social.

And, the Class of 2018 is preparing 4-H House Favorites for us to enjoy at the Open House Dessert Reception.

Thanks also to Barbara Campbell Determan, who is donating her graphic design services for all printed materials; to Charlee Walker, who is developing the logo for our 85th anniversary; and to Joyce Riskedal, for donating profits from the sales of her soy candles.

We do still have a few remaining needs for individuals and pledge classes to underwrite various aspects of the 85th Anniversary weekend.

How to Give

The Classes of 1956, 1968, 1970, 2017 and 2018 have issued a challenged to other pledge classes to select a sponsorship opportunity, either individually or in partnership with other classes in their decade. But of course, all donations are greatly appreciated. Also, donations of in-kind services (e.g. printing), are welcome.

Checks should be made payable to Illinois 4-H House Association (please note 85th expenses on the memo line) and sent to IL 4-H House Association, 105 N. Main St., P.O. Box 522, St. Joseph, IL 61873.

Or, donate online at https://4hhousealumni.com/make-a-gift.php.  Select “Current Projects” to pay with credit/debit card or to use PayPal.

Thank you so much for helping make this the best 4-H House Reunion yet! Looking forward to seeing you in July.
