Hello! My name is Kelsey Litchfield and I will be a freshman at the University of Illinois this fall. I am majoring in Agricultural Communications and I chose this major based upon the impact agriculture has had throughout my life so far. I grew up in a small village of about 250 people and attended a high school with four other towns. Being a part of such a small community, I was very involved. In sports, I was a cheerleader and a softball player. Some of the clubs I was in were FFA, 4-H, National Honor Society, Student Council, Mission Team, and band. Being in such remarkable groups has taught me responsibility, leadership skills, and has given me a better work ethic. FFA and 4-H has given me opportunities that influenced my decision to major in Ag Communications, attend University of Illinois, and pursue a career in agriculture. I discovered throughout these organizations that I love to inform others of what agriculture can do for them and the endless possibilities of what agriculture can offer. After graduating from college, I want to travel around the world and educate others about agriculture. Some fun facts about me are that I can play the ukulele, I have performed with my marching band at Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL, and I love watching the Fighting Illini! I can’t wait to attend U of I and live at the 4-H House this fall where I will meet new people and make memories that will make my college experience one that I can cherish forever!
